Meet the Therapist

Hi, I'm Kat Paris, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) providing virtual therapy to individuals in Florida, South Carolina, and Minnesota. For more than five years, I've specialized in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). My passion for this work comes from seeing firsthand how misunderstood OCD can be and how life-changing specialized treatment is when people receive the right support.

Throughout my career, I've worked in a variety of treatment settings, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient care, treating individuals with complex OCD and anxiety presentations. I have received extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for body-focused repetitive behaviors, allowing me to provide individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each person's unique goals and values.

I believe that effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, and a completely non-judgmental approach. OCD can be an incredibly isolating condition, and many people spend years feeling misunderstood or ashamed of their thoughts and experiences. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and accepted exactly as you are.

I also place a strong emphasis on psychoeducation, because understanding how OCD works is often one of the first steps toward breaking free from it. Together, we'll develop a clear understanding of your symptoms, learn why OCD persists, and build the skills and confidence to respond differently through evidence-based ERP and ACT. My goal is not only to help you make meaningful progress in therapy, but to empower you with the knowledge and tools to become your own therapist long after treatment ends.

As your therapist, I see myself as both a teammate and your biggest cheerleader. I'll celebrate your wins, help you navigate setbacks with compassion, and gently challenge you when OCD is asking you to stay stuck. Recovery isn't about eliminating uncertainty or never feeling anxious again. It's about learning how to move toward the life you want.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me reading the latest romantasy novel, taking a Pilates class or lifting weights at the gym, traveling with my husband, or spending time with my two cats, Koda and Pooter, who keep life entertaining.
